Platja DŽAro is a municipality in the Costa Brava, Spain that is found in the region of Bajo Ampurdam. It is a small locality with a population of 10,000 made up of Castell DŽAro, Platja DŽAro, and SŽAgaro...three towns of the municipality known as Castell dŽAro. This locality whoŽs economy moves around tourism limits with the town of Calonge, Santa Cristina DŽAro in the interior, and the locality of San Feliu de Guixols to the south. It is a municipality surrounded by the mountains of Mazizo de les Gavarres.
In itŽs origins, Platja DŽAro was a small fishermenŽs town that with the passing of time has become one focusing on tourism which is itŽs main source of income. For this reason many hotels, apartments, houses, villas and chalets have been built to satisfy the increasing demand. The same is true for other nearby localities like Castell DŽAro that just as Playa dŽaro has grown quite a bit in the past few years.
Of itŽs beaches we must not forget to mention the importance of Platja DŽAro the beach of excellence, the most frequented as well as the one with the isolated cove of Belladona, well known like that Sa Conca, and the beach of SŽAgaro.
